Anthropologie Influenced Christmas Decorating

I

‘ll be the first to admit that I am not an interior decorator.  In fact, I hired one this year to help me with the most basic of all the decorating decisions when we bought our home.  But when it comes to Christmas decorations, I decided to give it a go alone and see if I can make it look festive without professional help.  My inspiration?  This year, it is Anthropologie and their kitschy, vintage-y, warm and cozy fashions that inspired my few attempts at decking the halls.  I placed a vintage light-up Santa and handmade red tree on one side of the mantle, and vintage books, a pine tree candle, and sweet snowman plate on the other.  I also hung our crocheted stockings int front of the fireplace.  I gathered (okay, stole,) a few pinecones from a neighbor’s sidewalk that had fallen from their tree for a simple dining table arrangement, and placed my collection of snowmen around a Waterford crystal bowl of red ball ornaments. We added a rustic reindeer to our marble table and simple wreath to the modern front door. I love mixing the old, vintage holiday decorations with the glossier, newer finds…it gives me warm fuzzies seeing some of my grandmother’s pieces with my own.  I also included three photos of my favorite Christmas ornaments on our tree: Mary and Joseph, a bridal ornament, and a pirate ornmanent we bought from a street vendor on our honeymoon in Aruba! What was the inspiration for your decorations?
