f there’s one thing that has gained popularity since the 1970’s, it’s a love for all things bohemian. Anthropologie didn’t catch on like wildfire for no reason, right? One of the greatest things about this overall theme is that it’s easy, it’s fun, and it means things don’t have to match. In fact, matchy-matchy is so 2011. If you’re considering a change in your interiors, perhaps you should consider a bohemian vibe. It’s one part vintage, one part color, and one part whimsy.
It can work in any of your spaces. If going full-out gypsy style isn’t your thing, try adding a few beaded, patterned, or brightly colored pillows to your neutral couch or bedding. A funky lamp is always a good choice, as well as quirky knick-knacks in the shape of owls, human busts, or Indian-style lanterns. Once you add a few colorful pieces to your nest, you’ll feel your mood start to change. “Perhaps I’ll try my hand at painting this year”, you think. Or maybe you’ll start a book club once a week (and it’s okay if you start with Nicolas Sparks instead of “The Hunger Games“.) You might not realize where the new surge of inspiration is coming from, but your pillows and I will know.
