Hats Off to the 12 Annual Polo on the Lawn 5.4.13

12 Annual Polo on the Lawn

W

ith a mother who grew up next to Churchill Downs, we spent every Kentucky Derby as children glued to our television set in Nashville, TN. The competitive spirit, the touching rendition of “My Old Kentucky Home”; everyone had a reason to watch. But what captured my attention from age 2 to 22 was the endless array of hats. From chic and classy to completely over the top, Derby fashion is one of a kind.

Celebrate all things Derby in Dallas this year for the 12 Annual Polo on the Lawn Event benefitting Project Transformation, a Dallas-based organization that supports low-income children and youth with free literacy and educational programs. Socialize on the sidelines of the USPA Sanctioned Henry S. Miller Cup polo match and watch a live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby in the pavilion.

Drink, dance, mingle, place your bid for the silent auction, and dress for success for a chance to compete for “Best Dressed,” “Best Tailgate,” “Bet Picnic,” and of course, “Best Hat.” Celebrity judges, lifestyle guru Steve Kemble, WFAA “Daybreak” host Ron Corning and HGTV Design Star’s Hilari Younger, will award the prizes.
