What to Expect from Frederic Fekkai Dallas

I

am not one who loves to get my hair cut.  In fact, I sometimes drag my feet on getting it cut for so long that my hair looks like a cross between Cher (the early years,) and a Yeti, which isn’t a good combination.  Don’t get me wrong; I love the way a beautiful, fresh haircut feels.  It’s the process of finding a hair stylist and salon that I love that makes me break out in a cold sweat.

I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for, so I don’t mind spending a little more on a haircut, color, or blow dry if it’s going to look spectacular and make me feel like Kate Middleton.  But where to go?  Dallas is full of very nice salons.  That’s why I like to ask friends with fabulous hair for recommendations.  Several friends mentioned Frederic Fekkai in Highland Park Village, and since I have been an avid user of the product line for two years now, I began toying with the idea of giving it a try.  When they became the salon sponsor for “Texas Living“, and I actually got to meet some of the staff beforehand, it sealed the deal.  I would trust them with my split ends.

The first thing I loved about my trip to Frederic Fekkai Dallas was the warm, friendly staff.  At some salons, I’ve walked in and found a tornado of activity going on, and no one has time to say as much as hello.  Here, I was greeted with smiles, offered a beverage, given a tour of the salon and met the staff.  They showed me where to change into my robe, and set me up with a bevy of periodicals to read. A handsome young man, Stephen, came to get me for my shampoo, and boy, was this a real treat.  The chairs at the shampoo stations are massage chairs, so while you are getting your scalp massaged, hair cleaned and conditioned, the chair is relaxing your body as well.  This started the beginning of a wonderful journey.

When my hair was thoroughly clean, Julien Sabatier, the Creative Director for the salon came to me to discuss my cut.  Julien is the real deal; he’s from Cannes, France, and has previously held the position of lead hair stylist for the Cannes Film Festival. Julien is as friendly as he is talented…and I have to mention that he made every woman within ten feet feel like the most beautiful creature on earth.  He’s witty, he’s fun, and he’s got a way with scissors.  He went to work on my fuzzy, dried out mane and turned it into a shiny, supple head of hair.  I had no idea he could repair and restore its shape and vitality that quickly!  I couldn’t have loved what he did more.  Once he blew it dry and styled it up, I felt better about my hair than I had in months. (I recommend picking up the Fekkai Glossing cream…it’s incredible for weightless shine.)

Before leaving Fekkai, Julien graciously offered me a cosmetic touch-up with the resident makeup artist, who did a lovely job making my skin look fresh. I left the salon that day feeling pampered, content, and ready to conquer the world.  If you’re curious about Frederic Fekkai Dallas, don’t hesitate to give it a try.  It’s the perfect way to mix something you need with the relaxation and luxury you deserve.
