About Day at the Races 2013
More than 100 young professionals and philanthropists gathered at Muzeion Gallery to officially announce that the 5th annual “Day at the Races,” will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the historic Arlington Hall at Lee Park. The signature event, which is the largest Derby event of its kind in Dallas, will be hosted by the Lee Park Junior Conservancy and is the largest annual fundraiser for the Park and Hall.
José Reyes and Michelle Scott, 2013 Derby Co-Chairs, also announced that Caroline Rose Hunt will serve as honorary chair for the event. “We are extremely fortunate to have such a strong leader for this important fundraising effort,” Reyes said. “Mrs. Hunt and her peers have tirelessly worked to beautify Lee Park and her surroundings and now it’s our generation’s turn to carry the torch.”
The highly anticipated event theme was also announced at the party, generously sponsored by Muzeion.  “Run for the Roses,” will capture the spirit of the Kentucky Derby and encourage Junior Conservancy members and guests to turn out for this festive event filled with many of the same traditions that will be enjoyed at Churchill Downs on the same day:  Mint Juleps, Hot Browns, chic millinery and “wagering” on the Kentucky Derby. In addition to “rose” in the theme and in the Honorary Chair’s name, Four Roses Bourbon, the official bourbon of Day at the Races will be a sponsor.

Approximately 500 young professionals are expected to attend the event, raising much-needed funds for the conservation and preservation of these Turtle Creek landmarks. The fundraising charge will be led by the 2013 Members of the Year: Teffy Jacobs, Mark Plunkett, Allison Edwards, Scott Turner, Todd Stephens, Rodney Moore, Stephanie Gause, Cece Turner, Jason Treu, and Sharla Stevanovic.
